Welcome to the profile of Dr. Kenneth McCulloch!
Kenneth McCulloch's Bio:
Hi. I'm Dr. Kenneth McCulloch and I would like to take a moment to share a bit about myself. I understand that you have choices when it comes to your health care, and am honored that you're considering putting your orthopaedic health in my hands. I thought it only fair that you get to know something about me in return.
After growing up in New York, I earned my undergraduate degree close to home at Princeton University in New Jersey. I then went on to earn my M.D. from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - Robert Wood Johnson and completed my training in orthopaedic surgery back in New York City at St. Luke's / Roosevelt Hospital Center and the University of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. I then earned a coveted spot in a prestigious fellowship in adult reconstruction at Stanford University Medical Center.
The lure of warmer weather and eternal sunshine eventually drew me to Orange County, CA, where I established my own practice and grew it into one of the busiest orthopaedic centers in the southwest. Alas, it seems New York will always be home and I returned here to once again be closer to my family and friends.
Upon my return to the area, I became the first doctor in New York City to offer patients
direct anterior hip replacement, which is a less invasive hip replacement surgery that results in less pain than the traditional approach. I also introduced a new procedure for treating joint diseases to both the New York Downtown Hospital and the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. The procedure I introduced has gained much traction in the area as it greatly improves patient outcomes; so much so that the New York Times wrote a feature about the procedure and its benefits.
I was also first doctor in New York City to provide custom fit knee replacements. These surgical implants are designed to reduce the time required to perform a knee replacement and provide a more precise alignment of the knee joint, allowing the implant to function for a much longer period of time.
Recently, I had the honor of performing New York City's first ever virtual robotic total knee replacement - a procedure I firmly believe will soon be the gold standard of care in knee replacement surgery. This technique delivers precise, predictable outcomes that benefit both patient and physician.
I believe it is important to embrace and incorporate medical advances into current patient care, and as such I was one of the first physicians locally to offer alternative sports medicine treatments like platelet rich plasma, cartilage cell grafting and partial knee replacements. I support this philosophy in my own practice and around the globe, traveling often to offer instruction to other surgeons wanting to incorporate new options into their patient care.
I have also developed my own orthopaedic company so that I may bring my visions to life and improve treatment outcomes for my patients. I consult often with other orthopaedic companies, including known names such as Consensus Orthopaedics and Stryker Orthopaedics.
I am also fluent in Spanish so that I may communicate clearly and effectively with my patients, even if English is not their native language.
